As promised, today I’m giving away a shot cotton and far far away double cotton gauze scarf! What better way to get into a winter spirit this Monday?!
Yesterday I made two scarves and I’ve been wearing mine nonstop since then. It’s lightweight, soft, you can scrunch it and wrap it around your neck perfectly plus it’s long enough to knot. I’m planning on soaking mine in some Soak Wash, I have a tiny bit of the celebration scent left and I’d love for this to be even softer and smelling of Christmas! (Don’t worry, I won’t wash yours!) The edges are unsewn so you can fray it to your hearts delight. The shot cotton is a beautiful two toned fabric of a peachy-brown and a soft sage-y blue/green. The far far away is designed by Heather Ross and has the best little frog princes ever!
I got the idea from spool sewing and I think it would make a great last minute gift!!! It was easy peasy, although I didn’t use their exact size or sew it the same, I kinda winged it by measuring a favorite scarf and then slicing and sewing!

this is so cool! i have a shot cotton scarf set from spool but i haven’t sewn it up yet. i love the heather ross in yours. i’ve never used any of her fabrics but always love seeing them in projects.

My fav thing about winter is soup! We eat so much soup in the winter, and almost none the other seasons. I love going through the recipe box at the beginning of winter and making a shopping list for all my fav soups :)

My favorite thing about winter is when it’s really cold out (usually below -20′C) and you feel your eyelashes and the tiny hairs in your nose freeze while breathing the crisp cold air. Love it! And of course downhill skiing is the best too :)

I love the cold. Living in south Texas means it never gets too cold, but it’s nice to have a short reprieve from the heat of summer.

My FAVOURITE thing about winter is baking! Cookies, bread, cupcakes….it’s chilly out so totally acceptable to turn the oven on and eat a little more becuase you’re wearing extra layers anyway!!!
Oh, you know I want that scraf :op. My favorite thing about winter was that first real snowfall, opening the door and seeing everything bathed in white and then watching my dog frolic in it. He would be soooo happy, he’d burrow into it face-first and then shake it all off with this goofy doggie grin.

oh! i love, love, love this. this is one of those projects that makes me want to relearn sewing because such a pretty scarf results in what sounds like a not-so-hard-i-could-so-do-this project. i have so many things i love about winter, but because i live in the super hot texas heat, i’ll go with the relief from heat as my fave. we get to open windows and that makes me thrilled to snuggle up and make things.
Gorgeous! My favorite thing about winter is the excitement of waiting for that BIG snowstorm to come and then comparing the snowfall measurements with all your friends and family for bragging rights.

My favourite thing about winter is getting inspired by all the beautiful handmade things that people make. I pull out my back issues of Martha Stewart, Domino, Craft and ReadyMade and spend hours researching craft projects on my blog roll. Inevitably I end up completing about half of the projects I set out to do, but the whole process of dreaming of a handmade holiday is the best.

My favorite thing about winter is definitely Christmas!! Without it I don’t know how I would get through the cold and dreary weather! The lights and decorations and surprises always make me so cheery. Decorating the tree with Brock’s homemade eggnog is the best!

Let’s see, my favorite things about Winter? Hmmm…I do love Christmas, Christmas music, blingy lights, yummy food, and knowing that I will be with family! That is always so comforting for me. Since I live in Hawaii, I also love that winter brings good surf to one of my favorite surf spots–not the infamous North Shore with the HUGE surf…but b/c of that huge surf on the North Shore, one of the spots I love catches the wrap around on a north or east swell! :) Yeah! :)

my fav ting about winter is playing in the snow. After i take my finals (which is something i am thinking constantly these days) i will be frolicking in the snow drifts until i can’t feel my limbs, i think that it is so important to enjoy the snow it always make you feel like a kid again, i try to drag my friends into the snowpiles with me even if just for a moment, i think we forget how wonderful snow is when you hear on the news that there is a bad snowstorm coming…i always think…cool, this is going to be interesting. For all the shovelling, traffic hassles, and numb limbs snow is still marvelous…

Snow. It’s my favorite thing about winter. Growing up in Virginia, we didn’t get it much, and now that I live in the Midwest and experience it so much more, I’m loving it. My favorite thing about winter? Coming into a warm house after being out in the cold, snuggling with my fiancé under a big warm blanket, sledding and not having to worry about my super curly hair frizzing up after I straighten it and go outside LOL. I love all the seasonal foods and drinks as well.
